Probably the foundational value that we want to strive for in our business is to love our neighbours as ourselves. As soon as someone walks through our door, our mission should be to greet each one with a high degree of dignity, kindness and respect. This applies towards our customers and employees alike. We care about the people in our community and so we feel we ought to show you that through the way we conduct ourselves and in helping you find what you need (or what you didn’t know you needed!).

This also means that we need to do our best at being honest with our guests and to follow through on what we say we will do – even when its not easy or convenient for us to do so. And we hope that encourages our customers to let us know if they ever have a concern and to make things right if there is ever a wrong.

In our experience farming, fabricating and selling beef, the best quality meats come from cattle that are treated well. Ample space, easy access to clean water, a stress-free lifestyle and clean diet all play a role in making that happen. This sort of stewardship is a benefit to our products but even better a benefit to our cattle. In a butcher shop, there is nothing more satisfying than seeing high quality meats come in-house. It drives us to carefully cut and steward all the animal has to offer, wasting nothing.

But stewardship for us also applies to how we run our butcher shop. We want to utilize everything that has been entrusted to us well. No products going to waste. No staff ignored when they have concerns. Keeping on top of all facets of the business.

Over the years we’ve experienced a ton of community support in producing and selling meat. We’ve also seen a lot of support in the most unexpected places to help us get started, to which we are so thankful. It means a lot to us. Community is the backbone in building a successful business and it means that we need to be there for our neighbours just as they have been there for us. We LOVE you guys. And it means a lot to us to try and play a role in bettering our community through sponsorships, local events and helping those in times of need. We believe that a community thrives when we all help each other. We’ve seen that first hand here in Algoma.

This goes hand in hand with our Community value. Heritage Shores Butchery Co. prefers to support local producers in the area. We’ve been lucky enough to work with many of them and we see ourselves as a shop that can provide an outlet for local producers to sell their products if they choose so. Its fun to share about the products we have in store and tell a bit about their story. We also prefer buying local to integrate into our own products and utilizing local companies to service our needs when something breaks or needs renovating.

We think Heritage Shores Butchery Co. has a great story to share. One that we want to keep wholesome and positive for each person involved, whether it be farmer, employee or consumer. That helps to make the job enjoyable. We realize we may not be the biggest and flashiest company out there, but that’s okay by us. We enjoy being here and utilizing our skills in the positions we’ve been blessed to have.

Our little shop as a team loves helping each other and it makes work more enjoyable to know we have each others back. Many hands make light work. We love joking with each other – some days are harder than others, but being there for each other makes all the difference. We hope that kind of teamwork creates joy and shows itself to our customers to create an extra spark to your experience when you stop in.
